First post - Expectations

So I am new at this blog thing. This is my first one and I am creating it to talk about my study abroad experience in Oviedo, Spain this summer, the summer of 2009. I will be leaving for Spain in two weeks and I am thrilled that I have this opportunity to travel for school and also the opportunity to finish my BA requirement in five weeks. I think that is what I am most excited about. Also, I am excited to see and experience a culture that is so rich. I will be living with a host family, though I believe that my family is just a mom named Isabel. That is, if I read my information correctly. I hope that she is kind and patient, but of that I have no doubt. I am sure she will help me learn the language and I look forward to developing a close friendship with her. Of things that I am anxious or somewhat frightened about, travel tops the list. I have traveled abroad before but always with other people. I have never had to negotiate airports by myself and that makes me somewhat nervous. I am however, just fine when I reach my destination. Travel within the city once I reach it is not difficult for me and I look forward to the relief of finally reaching Oviedo. Once there however, I do have some apprehension about the actual classes. I do not know what class I will be placed in but I hope to do well wherever I end up. I am sure that I am not the only one with concerns about class and travel and no matter what happens I know it will be the experience of a lifetime!!
